Why it matters

Unveiled in Miami in 2024, the Ferrari 12Cilindri succeeded the 812 Superfast as the marque's flagship two-seat V12 grand tourer. Its name—Italian for ‘twelve cylinders’—placed the defining feature of the car at center stage. The 6,496 cc F140HD V12 produced 830 cv at 9,250 rpm and revved to 9,500 rpm without turbocharging or hybrid assistance. Titanium connecting rods, lighter pistons and a revised valvetrain reduced rotating mass, while Ferrari's Aspirated Torque Shaping system refined the delivery through the eight-speed dual-clutch rear transaxle. The design by the Ferrari Styling Centre looked to the 365 GTB/4 Daytona without becoming retrospective: a black bonnet panel visually joined the slim lighting elements, while the rear replaced a conventional wing with two independently controlled active flaps. Four-wheel steering, brake-by-wire, Side Slip Control 8 and a shortened wheelbase sharpened response, and the integrated active aerodynamics balanced efficiency with stability. Ferrari quoted 0–100 km/h in 2.9 seconds, 0–200 km/h in under 7.9 seconds and a maximum speed above 340 km/h. The 12Cilindri stands as a rare modern commitment to the unassisted, high-revving V12—an elegant grand tourer built around one of Ferrari's most important mechanical traditions.
