Why it matters

Unveiled at the 1953 Paris Motor Show, the 250 Europa succeeded the 212 Inter and shared its long-wheelbase chassis architecture with the 375 America. It was the only road-going member of the 250 family powered by the long-block Lampredi V12; the later 250 Europa GT adopted the shorter Colombo engine. Twenty-two chassis are recorded, with bespoke coupé and cabriolet bodies by Pinin Farina and Vignale.
