The 250 Europa GT established Ferrari’s enduring grand-touring formula: compact Colombo V12 power, elegant Pinin Farina coachwork and genuine long-distance performance.

Why it matters

Introduced at the 1954 Paris Motor Show, the Europa GT replaced the earlier 250 Europa’s long-block Lampredi engine with Gioachino Colombo’s shorter 3.0-liter V12. That change allowed a 200 mm reduction in wheelbase while preserving cabin space and improving agility. Its 220 hp engine, 2,600 mm chassis and increasingly consistent Pinin Farina design made it the foundation for the celebrated 250 GT family and Ferrari’s transition toward series production.
