Why it matters

Introduced at the 1985 Frankfurt Motor Show as the successor to the 308 GTB Quattrovalvole, the 328 GTB retained Pininfarina's celebrated wedge profile while integrating its bumpers, softening the nose and tail, and refining the cabin. Its transverse 3,186 cc V8 used four valves per cylinder, Bosch K-Jetronic injection and Marelli electronic ignition to produce 270 hp in European specification. Power reached the rear wheels through Ferrari's five-speed gated manual transaxle and limited-slip differential, while independent double-wishbone suspension and ventilated disc brakes preserved the model's responsive balance. The fixed-roof GTB was stiffer, lighter and substantially rarer than the open GTS. Ferrari produced 1,344 examples before the 348 replaced it in 1989, leaving the 328 GTB as one of the final and most resolved expressions of Ferrari's classic two-seat analog V8 lineage.
