Ferrari 348 GTB

Why it matters

Introduced in 1993 as the successor to the 348 TB, the 348 GTB incorporated the extensive development Ferrari had carried out during the model's first four years. The longitudinal 3,405 cc, four-cam V8 gained Bosch Motronic 2.7 management, revised intake and exhaust systems and a higher compression ratio, increasing output to 320 hp at 7,200 rpm. A wider rear track, revised suspension geometry and updated spring and damper settings improved stability and response, while body-color lower panels visually modernized Pininfarina's Testarossa-influenced shape. The removable rear subframe and transverse five-speed gated gearbox remained, preserving the 348's distinctive T-shaped powertrain layout and mechanical character. Ferrari also refined the cabin and detail finish while retaining the unassisted steering and analog controls that made the model so direct. Only 252 GTBs were produced before the F355 arrived, making this final fixed-roof evolution dramatically rarer than the earlier TB and one of the most collectible road-going 348 variants.
