The second 400 Superamerica series lengthened Ferrari’s aerodynamic flagship for greater touring comfort while retaining its rare combination of hand-built luxury, Colombo V12 performance and striking Pininfarina form.

Why it matters
Introduced at the 1962 London Motor Show, Series II moved the Coupé Aerodinamica from the first series’ 2,420 mm wheelbase to a 2,600 mm chassis. Its 3,967 cc Tipo 163 Colombo V12 continued to produce approximately 340 hp, driving through a four-speed manual gearbox, while four-wheel disc brakes provided contemporary stopping power. Pininfarina subtly refined the body with a more enclosed hood-scoop treatment and the longer proportions needed for improved cabin space. Only 12 Series II Aerodinamica coupés were completed before the 500 Superfast succeeded it.
