Why it matters

Introduced at the 1958 Paris Salon, Series III paired a revised 2,600 mm Tipo 514A chassis with the 4,962 cc Tipo 126A/58 V12. Outside-mounted spark plugs, large Weber carburetors and racing-derived internal components raised output to approximately 400 hp, while enlarged drum brakes helped contain its extraordinary performance. Pinin Farina clothed all 12 examples, although bespoke details—including covered or exposed headlamps—made individual cars distinct. It was the last and most powerful expression of Ferrari’s Lampredi-engined luxury flagship.
