Why it matters

Presented in 2018, the 488 Pista continued the lineage of Ferrari's most focused V8 road cars after the 360 Challenge Stradale, 430 Scuderia and 458 Speciale. Its 3,902 cc twin-turbocharged V8 produced 710 hp at 8,000 rpm and 770 Nm of torque, making it Ferrari's most powerful production V8 at launch. More than half of the engine components were new, including titanium connecting rods, Inconel exhaust manifolds, lightweight crankshaft and flywheel assemblies, and carbon-fiber intake plenums influenced by the 488 Challenge. Ferrari removed approximately 90 kg compared with the 488 GTB through carbon-fiber panels, thinner glass, lightweight wheels and a simplified racing-inspired cabin. The deep front S-duct, revised underbody, blown rear spoiler and active diffuser increased downforce by roughly 20 percent while preserving aerodynamic efficiency. Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer introduced brake-based yaw control at the limit, integrating with Side Slip Control 6, the electronic differential and F1-Trac to make its extraordinary capability exploitable. Ferrari quoted 0–100 km/h in 2.85 seconds, 0–200 km/h in 7.6 seconds and a 340 km/h top speed. The 488 Pista became the ultimate expression of Ferrari's twin-turbocharged 488 platform and one of the defining special-series berlinettas of its era.
