The 500 Superfast was Ferrari’s ultimate mid-1960s grand tourer: a hand-built, two-seat flagship that paired Pininfarina elegance and remarkable luxury with one of Maranello’s most powerful road-going V12s.

Why it matters
Unveiled at the 1964 Geneva International Motor Show, the 500 Superfast evolved the 400 Superamerica Aerodinamico into the final and most imposing expression of Ferrari’s exclusive America-series flagship. Its 4,963 cc Tipo 208 V12 combined elements of Ferrari’s Lampredi and Colombo engine families and produced approximately 400 hp. Pininfarina clothed the long-wheelbase chassis with a sweeping fastback body, while the spacious two-seat cabin could include power windows, power steering and teak dashboard trim. Ferrari built 24 Series I examples, generally with a four-speed gearbox and overdrive, followed by 12 Series II cars distinguished by three-louver front-fender vents and a five-speed gearbox—36 cars in total through 1966.
