Ferrari 812 Competizione

Why it matters

Unveiled in 2021, the 812 Competizione was the limited-series, track-focused evolution of the 812 Superfast and the latest heir to a lineage that includes the 599 GTO and F12tdf. Ferrari extensively re-engineered the 6,496 cc naturally aspirated V12 with titanium connecting rods, lighter pistons and crankshaft, redesigned cylinder heads and Formula 1-derived sliding finger followers. The result was 830 cv at 9,250 rpm, 692 Nm of torque and a 9,500 rpm maximum engine speed, transmitted through a seven-speed dual-clutch transaxle with shift times reduced by five percent. Independent actuation of the two rear wheels debuted with Virtual Short Wheelbase 3.0, allowing Ferrari's control systems to manage agility and stability with exceptional precision. The exterior made its engineering visible: a transverse carbon-fiber bonnet blade concealed hot-air outlets, a single wide front intake improved cooling, and the expanded rear diffuser worked with rectangular exhaust outlets. Most distinctive was the replacement of the rear glass with a solid aluminum panel carrying three pairs of patented vortex generators, feeding a broader spoiler while giving the fastback an unmistakable silhouette. Ferrari removed 38 kg compared with the 812 Superfast and quoted 0–100 km/h in 2.85 seconds, 0–200 km/h in 7.5 seconds and a Fiorano lap of 1 minute 20 seconds. Limited to 999 examples, the Competizione became one of Ferrari's most extreme and collectible front-engined road cars.
