Ferrari 849 Testarossa

Why it matters

Presented in 2025 as the successor to the SF90 Stradale, the 849 Testarossa restored a name Ferrari had historically used for its most extreme road and racing engines. Its heavily revised 3,990 cc twin-turbo V8 produced 830 cv, while two electric motors on the front axle and a third at the rear contributed 220 cv for a combined 1,050 cv. The plug-in system retained a 7.45 kWh battery and enabled electric all-wheel drive, torque vectoring and approximately 25 km of silent running. Larger turbochargers, redesigned cylinder heads and reduced internal mass lifted performance while the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission managed the combined output. Sharp geometric bodywork looked to Ferrari prototypes of the 1970s; the distinctive twin-tail rear treatment referenced the 512 S, while an active spoiler and comprehensively developed underbody helped generate 415 kg of downforce at 250 km/h. Ferrari's new FIVE—Ferrari Integrated Vehicle Estimator—created a real-time digital model of the car to improve traction, braking and chassis-control accuracy. Ferrari quoted 0–100 km/h in under 2.3 seconds, 0–200 km/h in 6.35 seconds and a maximum speed above 330 km/h. The 849 Testarossa linked one of Ferrari's most evocative historic names to a new generation of electrified performance rather than recreating the famous 1980s flat-twelve berlinetta.
