Why it matters
Presented in 2025 alongside the 849 Testarossa Berlinetta, the Spider succeeded the SF90 Spider and revived one of Ferrari's most resonant names for a new electrified flagship. Its extensively revised 3,990 cc twin-turbo V8 produced 830 cv, while two electric motors drove the front axle and a third operated at the rear, creating electric all-wheel drive and a combined 1,050 cv. The eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, active aerodynamics and Ferrari Integrated Vehicle Estimator worked together to manage the power with exceptional precision. Most importantly, Ferrari engineered the retractable hardtop as part of the car from the outset: it opens or closes in 14 seconds and can operate at speeds up to 45 km/h, allowing the full performance envelope to be enjoyed with the cabin exposed. Despite the roof mechanism, dry weight was held to 1,660 kg and Ferrari quoted 0–100 km/h in under 2.3 seconds, 0–200 km/h in 6.35 seconds and a maximum speed above 330 km/h. The body preserved the Berlinetta's sharp front bridge and prototype-inspired twin-tail rear architecture while reshaping the upper surfaces around the open cockpit, roll-over protection and compact folded roof. In combining hypercar acceleration, a 14-second hardtop and the visual language of Ferrari's 1970s sports prototypes, the 849 Testarossa Spider stands as the open expression of Ferrari's most powerful series-production road-car platform of its generation.
