Ferrari F12tdf

Why it matters

Introduced in 2015, the F12tdf honored the Tour de France Automobile endurance road race that Ferrari dominated during the 1950s and 1960s. Its 6,262 cc naturally aspirated V12 received racing-derived mechanical tappets, variable-geometry intake trumpets and extensive internal revisions, raising output to 769 hp at 8,500 rpm. Ferrari removed approximately 110 kg through carbon-fiber body panels, thinner glass, a simplified Alcantara cockpit and lightweight components, while wider front tires generated substantially greater cornering force. To retain agility with the more aggressive front axle, Ferrari introduced Passo Corto Virtuale—Virtual Short Wheelbase—an active rear-wheel-steering system that made the car feel shorter and more responsive while preserving high-speed stability. Enlarged Aero Bridge channels, an extended rear spoiler, louvered quarter panels and a more complex diffuser increased downforce to approximately 230 kg at 200 km/h. Ferrari quoted 0–100 km/h in 2.9 seconds, 0–200 km/h in 7.9 seconds and a top speed above 340 km/h. Its 1 minute 21 second Fiorano lap was only 1.3 seconds slower than LaFerrari. With just 799 examples, the F12tdf stands as one of Ferrari's most intense naturally aspirated front-engined road cars.
