Ferrari Purosangue

Why it matters

Presented in 2022, the Purosangue expanded Ferrari's road-car vocabulary without adopting a conventional SUV formula. Its naturally aspirated 6,496 cc V12 sat behind the front axle and produced 725 cv, while an eight-speed rear transaxle helped create a 49:51 weight distribution. Ferrari's evolved 4RM-S all-wheel-drive system used a compact two-speed power-transfer unit at the front, engaging only when useful and preserving predominantly rear-driven behavior. The Ferrari Active Suspension Technology system employed 48-volt electric motor actuators at each damper to control body movement directly, reducing roll and pitch without relying on traditional anti-roll bars. Rear-hinged back doors allowed generous access while preserving a compact wheelbase, and four individual seats emphasized the car's grand-touring character. The roof used carbon fiber as standard to lower the center of gravity, while underbody aerodynamics generated an air curtain across the rear glass so a conventional rear wiper was unnecessary. Ferrari quoted 0–100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, 0–200 km/h in 10.6 seconds and a maximum speed above 310 km/h. More than a practical Ferrari, the Purosangue reinterpreted the company's V12 four-seat heritage for an entirely new body format.
